You probably searched this because the number leaving your account did not match the number on the pricing page. That is the usual reason.
So here is the whole thing, taken from Fresha’s own pricing page and checked on the date shown. No spin, no screenshots of a bad review. Just what it costs, worked out on a month that looks like yours.

The bit worth reading twice
Fresha takes 20% of a new client’s first booking, with a minimum of £4. It is charged once, on her first visit, and returning clients cost you nothing.
On a £45 first appointment that is £9. Six of those in a month is £54 — more than three times the subscription itself.
Which clients actually count as new is a longer question than it looks, and it now has its own page rather than a paragraph here.
The part nobody works out
The percentage is the number everyone repeats. It only applies above £20.
Twenty per cent of £20 is exactly £4, which is where the two meet. Above it you pay the percentage. At or below it the percentage comes to less than £4, so the minimum takes over and you pay £4 flat — and the cheaper the service, the bigger a share of it that £4 is.
A blow-dry, a fringe trim, a gel removal, a kids’ cut, a brow wax. The cheap end of a price list is where the floor decides the fee, not the rate. We read eight independent UK price lists in September 2026: a fringe trim ran £3 to £10, a child’s cut £6 to £15, and almost the whole add-on menu sat under £20.
One thing worth being straight about, because it cuts the other way: the fee is worked out on the whole booking, not on one service. If she books a fringe trim and a colour together, the total is well over £20 and the floor never comes into it. The £4 bites when a new client books one cheap thing on its own — which is exactly what someone trying you out for the first time tends to do.
None of this is hidden. Fresha publishes the minimum on the same line as the percentage, and we have linked their page above so you can check it. The £4 replaces the 20% on those bookings, it is not added on top. It is just that a floor does not read like a fee until you do the division, and a new client on a fringe trim is not who anyone pictures when they read “20%”.
| First booking | Fee | Real rate |
|---|---|---|
| £10 | £4.00minimum | 40% |
| £12 | £4.00minimum | 33% |
| £15 | £4.00minimum | 27% |
| £20 | £4.00 | 20% |
| £30 | £6.00 | 20% |
| £45 | £9.00 | 20% |
Worked out from Fresha’s own published figures — 20% with a £4 minimum, read 23 September 2026. The service prices in the table are there to show where the floor takes over, not to say what a salon should charge. The price-list ranges quoted above come from eight independent UK salons in Selby, Doncaster, Leeds, Haslingden, Godmanchester, Swansea, Plymouth and Glasgow, read the same day.
Moshee takes none of it. There is no marketplace here, so there is no introduction to charge you for.
Your booking link is yours. The client who books through it was always yours too.

Being fair about it
A marketplace. Fresha lists you where people are already browsing for a salon, and some of your new clients genuinely will come from that. If a meaningful slice of your work arrives that way and you are happy paying for the introduction, that is a real trade and Fresha is offering it.
Moshee has no marketplace. Nobody browsing an app will stumble across you. What you get instead is your own booking link, and nothing standing between you and the person who was always going to book you anyway. That is also why there is no commission line — there is no introduction to charge you for.
Common questions
Fresha is free to sign up for. It then takes 20% of a new client’s first booking through its marketplace, with a minimum fee of £4. The software itself is £14.95 a month for a solo stylist, and on top of that sit card fees of 1.19% plus 20p, and 6p a text after the first twenty. So it is free to start, and the cost arrives with the work.
£14.95 a month for an independent, or £9.95 per team member. That is the subscription only. On the example month we work through above — sixty appointments at £45, six of them new clients from the marketplace — the real total comes to £119.08 once commission, card fees and texts are counted.
20% of a new client’s first booking made through the Fresha marketplace, charged once, with a minimum fee of £4. Returning clients cost nothing. The minimum is the part worth knowing: below a £20 booking the £4 takes over, so on a £15 service the real rate is 27%, and it climbs as the price drops.
Fresha’s pricing page says the fee applies to a new client’s first booking through the marketplace, and it does not spell out how a booking gets counted as coming from the marketplace. If you send people to your Fresha link off your own Instagram, that is a question worth putting to Fresha directly rather than assuming. We have not put a number on it because Fresha does not publish one.
